C-FIT's first party conference fringe attracted 76 attendees despite publicity being incredibly last minute.
The event was chaired by Councillor Daniel Hamilton and featured the following speakers:
Nirj Deva MEP
Nirj Deva has been a Member of the European Parliament since 1999 and represents the south eastern region of the UK. He is currently the Conservative Spokesman for Overseas' Development and Co-operation. Nirj was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka into a political family but was raised in Britain. He was the Conservative Member of Parliament for Brentford and Isleworth from 1992 to 1997 and during that time served as Parliamentary Private Secretary in the Scottish Office and was a member of the Select Committees on the Parliamentary Ombudsman (1993-1997) and Education (1994-1996).

Mark Wallace
Mark Wallace, 24, is the Campaign Director of the TaxPayersâ Alliance, the grassroots campaign for lower taxes and better government. As Campaign Director of the TPA, Mark deals with the lobbying and media for Britainâs most-reported political campaign, chalking up over 400 media appearances a month on every topic from MPsâ expenses to Green Taxes. He is a graduate of Durham University, an enthusiastic traveller and former Campaign Manager of the libertarian pressure group The Freedom Association.
Brian Conway
Brian Conway is Head of Government & Industry Affairs at Manchester Airports Group Regional Airports (East Midlands, Bournemouth, Humberside). Manchester Airports Group is is the countryâs largest UK-owned airport operator, serving around 28 million passengers each year.
Councillor Paul Dendle
Paul Dendle has spent his entire career in the travel industry, having founded and directed numerous travel companies and tour operators. Paul has also had professional dealings with XL and considers himself to be one of the UK's premier experts on charter flights. He currently maintains various business interests in the travel industry and is a Conservative Councillor for Arundel on Arun District Council.
